The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

I am so excited to be creating something like this for siblings of children with special needs.

This journey all started when Ashton was 3 months old and Sloane was about 2 and a half. We began noticing that we were paying a ton of attention to our youngest who needed so much medical attention and Sloane began to regress in skills that she had learned and she began acting out in a way we had never seen before. “I Drew You A Picture” was one of things she used to say to us (and continues to) to get our attention and that is what we learned that she needed more of – attention.

I began thinking about some of these things seriously that summer (Summer 2016). We got in touch with a psychologist who began to engage in Play Therapy for Sloane and got in touch with our son’s social worker at SickKids in order to help us navigate this new system and we wanted more resources to better support her and all she was going through.

We wanted to know more about what she was going through emotionally. Those sessions made all the difference for us and I wanted to put together a website that was a one-stop-shop for all things related to siblings of children with special needs.

So here it is (albeit in it’s complete infancy)…
